We targeted to build another product based on the foundation of the Smart Access App, a flexible booking system for all sorts of clients.
Challenges
Unlimited booking types vs limited modules
Our product is designed for a diverse range of users, from those booking meeting rooms to those scheduling yoga classes. We've streamlined a combination of modules to ensure our system can handle most general booking scenarios.
The Foundations
Dynamic QR Code for specific people
The profile QR code can be used as a staff badge or member card to access all kinds of doors, such as the main entrance, meeting room, server room, etc. For security reasons, the code is automatically refreshed occasionally.
Temporary QR Code for guests
On the other hand, users can create a temporary QR code for guests by requiring them to fill in a general e-form or create one for them manually beforehand.
The Iterations
After the 1sy iteration went live, we collected opinions from different roles, from admin and reception to general staff and security, to plan for the upcoming iterations.
Portable QR code reader
Our primary thought was to install QR code readers around the places so that users could scan their QR code to gain access. However, different companies' time and operation costs could vary whenever hardware installation is involved. We added the QR code reader function to the App to provide a more flexible and affordable solution.
Turn access records into the attendance list
Despite showing all the personal access records in the App, we turn the data into an attendance list, an Excel document file that admins can download from the control panel for further use.
Remote control
Typically, admins assign access rights to different user groups in advance. Still, there are always exceptional cases. Therefore, we designed a remote control function that lets admins and receptionists control access within the App, such as opening the backdoor for maintenance vendors.
Add-on: The Gatekeeper
To provide a more rounded solution surrounding the access control idea, we made another gatekeeper called the Smart Display. The App acts as a doorbell and video intercom, making the access process seamless and automatic and saving more of the workforce.
